ESTATE AND FAMILY PAPERS
Given the historical significance of landed estates in the rural landscape, Ayrshire Archives is privileged to hold a number of important estate and family records.
These include the records of:
- The Hamiltons of Rozelle and Carcluie (1734-1926)
- Welbeck (Duke of Portland ) Estates Ltd. (1798-1900)
- Woodburn Family of Monkton (1795-1903)
- Kennedy's of Kirkmichael (1453-1832)
- Dunlop's of Doonside (1749-1874)
- Holmes Estate (1860-1931).
These collections include correspondence, tacks, rentals, leases, sederunt books, charters, titles and accounts.
While such records provide a valuable insight into aristocratic, business, and family concerns, both at home and abroad, they also provide a great deal of information about Ayrshire life in general.
