The public searchroom
is open Tuesday & Thursday 10am to
4.30pm. Please note we are closed between 1 and 2pm for lunch. In the afternoon documents cannot be ordered after 3.45
p.m. The Centre operates
an appointment system and closes on public holidays. It is always advisable to telephone before your visit.

to find us

The Centre is situated
within the grounds of the Craigie Estate in Ayr. It is easily accessible
by car, train or bus.
By
Car
From Ayr town centre
proceed to the Railway Station and turn right up Smith Street. After
passing under the railway bridge turn left onto Craigie Road and head
towards the Civic Theatre and Fire Station on the roundabout. At the
roundabout go straight onto Craigie Road (Bowling Green on left hand
side) and turn right into the Craigie Estate and follow signs for Ayrshire
Archives Centre.
From outwith Ayr
take the exit for Ayr (North) at the Whitletts roundabout and proceed
down Whitletts Road. At the traffic lights (past Tesco and Ayr Racecourse)
take the slip road to the left and proceed along Craigie Road. Take
second turning on left into Craigie Estate and follow signs for Ayrshire
Archives Centre.
By
Train
Trains for Ayr depart
from Glasgow Central Station every 30 minutes on the hour and the half
hour. Ayrshire Archives Centre is a ten minute walk from the station.
Once in Ayr, follow directions from the Railway Station as above.
By
Bus
The No.2 (Hayhill)
bus passes the entrance to the Craigie Estate every fifteen minutes.
The bus can be boarded at Boswell Park, across from the Gaiety Theatre,
or at Findlays, Burns Statue Square.

Free car parking
facilities are available at the front of the Centre.
